This newsletter’s goal isto provide you with highlights of Premier HIIN activities, upcoming events, and industry news. We hope that you find this helpful and encourage you tocontinue to provide feedback on how we can make our HIIN program better.
November is often regarded as a time to give thanks. We are thankful for you and applaud the incredible work that you are doing. Since September 2016,Premier HIIN and its hospitals, operating as “One Team—One Voice: Transforming Healthcare Together,” have collectively avoided more than 4,500patient harm events and prevented more than 2,500 readmissions, which translates to more than $82 million dollars in avoided costs! This is no smallfeat and your patients and the communities that you serve are thankful for your contributions to this important work.
The National Partnership for Patients (PfP) program goals are a 20 percent reduction in all-cause harm and a 12 percent reduction in all-causereadmissions. Based on results to date, Premier HIIN and its hospitals’ efforts reflect the meeting or exceeding of these goals in the following fivetopic areas: Central Line-Associated Blood Stream Infections (CLABSI), Venous Thromboembolism (VTE), Surgical Site Infections (SSI), RespiratoryFailure, and Sepsis. We are demonstrating progress toward the goals in eight areas: Infection-related Ventilator-associated Conditions (IVAC), Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI), Clostridium Difficile Infection (CDI), Adverse Drug Events (ADE), Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), Pressure Ulcers (PUs), Readmissions, and Falls with Injury.
These results demonstrate exciting successes; however, there is still more work to do to meet the goals and improve the quality and safety of caredelivery! Your HIIN Partners will work closely with each of you to implement action plans to address your organization’s identified opportunities forimprovement as well as identify areas of success. We strongly encourage you to share these successes so that others in the Premier HIIN may benefit.
